Workplace Fundraising Ideas
There are lots of different ways to fundraise in the office. One of the most simple ideas is to introduce a swear box. People then pay a small fine every time they swear in the office; you will be amazed at how quickly the money will add up! Similarly, you could set up a piggy bank in the middle of the office and whenever anyone has spare change they can put it in there. If your workplace has a reception it's a great place to put the collection box, encourage people to add their loose change when they leave every night.
Another popular workplace fundraiser is a dress down day; this event goes down particularly well if you have to wear a suit to work. People simply pay a small donation to wear what they like for the day.
You could also organise an office sweepstake for a sporting event. There are plenty to choose from such as the Grand National, Wimbledon and even the Football World Cup. Simply award the winner with half the total takings and the other half can go to charity.
Similarly, you could organise a raffle. Approach local businesses to see if they will donate prizes - this will improve your profit margins compared to buying the prizes yourself. Remember to read up on the rules and regulations surrounding raffles to ensure you're not breaking any laws.
Adapting Traditional Fundraising Ideas
Many traditional and successful fundraising events can be adapted to suit your workplace and office environment. How about a cake sale? You can bake cakes at home and bring them in for people to purchase on their coffee and lunch breaks. You could also encourage work colleagues to bake some delicious cakes to sell too- the more people you get involved the more money you will make for your chosen charity.
Or how about an office sports day? This is a fun way to fundraise, events could include office chair racing and how many holes you can punch into a piece of paper in a minute. You could also do a shootout, throwing paper into a basket. Each athlete has to pay a donation to take part in the events with the winner receiving a prize.
Another great office fundraiser is to organise sponsored events such as a sponsored head shave or chest wax! It is also worth speaking to company bosses to see if they will match the amount of funds that you collect from your office fundraiser.
